Back to Frequently Asked Questions

Q: May I purchase a MagicBand, and associate it to my profile if I choose to do so?
A: Yes. You may purchase a MagicBand and link it to your Main Entrance Pass. However, MagicBands can not be used in place of Guest Passes when visiting the parks, due to the unique nature of this admission type.

Q: Do other privileges, rules and use of a MagicBand, apply to them as well?
A: Yes, the enhanced privileges apply to all U.S.-based Main Entrance Pass holders.

Q: Does my standard merchandise discount apply when purchasing MagicBands?
A: Yes, your standard merchandise discount applies.

Q: I linked my spouse/domestic partner’s pass to My Disney Experience, and purchased a MagicBand. How do I link it to my profile?
A: It can be associated at time of purchase, or associated later using My Disney Experience. The website and mobile application will guide you through the process, or you can view the How-to Guide.

Q: What happens if I lose my personal MagicBand?
A: You can indicate it as lost/misplaced and deactivate it using the My Disney Experience website or mobile application. Replacement MagicBands may be purchased at merchandise locations around the resort and off property.

Q: Will my associated MagicBand work for other things besides park entry?
A: It will also work with Disney PhotoPass and Memory Maker (if purchased). When staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, other capabilities like touch to enter (hotel room key) and touch to pay can be enabled during your stay.

Q: How will my MagicBand work if I link both my Main Entrance Pass and a Complimentary Ticket to my profile?
A: In this scenario, you will need to visit a Vacation Planning (ticket sales) window to verify which media type you plan to use for admission, prior to park entry. This will not be required when linking media for date-specific hard ticket events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Q: Why can’t I link a MagicBand to a Guest Pass?
A: Guest Passes are an extremely unique entitlement in that they are usable by different Guests on different days, whereas MagicBands are intended for use by a single Guest. It is also easier for Main Entrance Pass holders to manage multiple Guest Pass cards than multiple MagicBands, and eliminates the expense of having to purchase MagicBands for use with Guest Passes.

Q: Will Main Entrance Pass holders need a MagicBand to visit the parks going forward?
A: No. MagicBand use is optional and Main Entrance Passes will still be usable exactly the same way as before.
